Creating a Signature Style and Launch with Confidence

MODULE 1: DEFINE

Here are some quick must ask questions - Why create a signature style? Don’t designers adapt to the client’s style? Who would you hire Always remember - When you try to reach everybody you reach nobody. Be clear about what you offer and what you don’t. Don’t delete your brand with too much. Simplify to amplify.

 

MODULE 2: VISUALS + VOICE

Learn about core values and elements. 

The Common threads in projects are - Colors, textures, patterns and Tone of voice - playful, serious, wholesome, edgy.

 

MODULE 3: BRAND GUIDELINES

Brand guidelines and standards - 

Choose 2-3 fonts (heading, body, accent), 3-6 colors, logo or headshot.

 

MODULE 4: COMMUNICATE

Communicating Your Signature Style overview.

 

MODULE 5: CREATING VISUAL CONTENT

No finished projects? No problem.

Create a signature style using the following.

  • Brand shoot
  • Vignettes
  • Flatlays
  • Stock photos (not interiors)
  • Inspiration/vibe images (not interiors)
  • Moodboards
  • 3D rendering

 

MODULE 6: WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA

Website pages needed : 

1. Homepage: 

  • Best project images
  • Mini bio
  • Clear CTA
  • Details and keywords in footer

2. Contact:

  • Appointment scheduler
  • Photos of work (remind them how awesome you are!)

3. About: 

  • Brief professional bio
  • Full bio
  • About the company
  • Encourage to take next step

4. Work With Me: 

  • Services overview (but don’t overwhelm)
  • Encourage to book a call

5. Portfolio:

  • Best work and what you want more of
  • Professional photos best

6. IF bootstrapping:

  •  learn techniques, don’t just wing it

7. Press:

  • Local, national, online
  • HARO
  • Social media tips (curate feed, don’t share other designers’ work, less is more)

 

MODULE 7: LAUNCH MARKETING

  • Focus on organic marketing
  • Establish yourself as an expert

 

MODULE 8: ONLINE/EMAIL MARKETING

  1. Reach out to friends and family - let them know what you’re doing and invite to follow
  2. Start building an email list with a simple opt-in (Share enough to show you’re an expert but remind them that they need you!)
  3. Post regularly- Consistency is key

 

MODULE 9: IN-PERSON MARKETING

Reach out to new homeowners, builders, HOAs, clubs and groups. Remember It’s H2H, not B2C.

 

MODULE 10: BE THE EXPERT

You already are an expert! What comes easy to you? Teach on that.

Tap into other people’s audiences - be a guest speaker, pitch podcasts your ideal clients listen to to do an interview, sign up for HARO
