  • Left-click to finalize the measurement

Measuring Between Objects

  • Click on one object (e.g., a wall opening)

  • Use this to verify clearances meet code requirements

Placing Recessed Lighting

  • The grid system works in conjunction with the ruler tool
  • Zoom in to make the grid boxes smaller for more precision
  • Use grid lines as reference points
  • Create measurements between grid intersections for even spacing of ceiling fixtures

  • The grid provides a visual reference that dynamically adjusts based on zoom level:
    • Zoom in: Grid boxes become smaller for detailed work
    • Zoom out: Grid boxes become larger for overall layout planning
  • Standard grid size: Approximately one foot per grid box (at standard zoom)

  • While in the ruler tool, click on the “Trim” option
  • Left-click on any measurement line you want to remove
  • Continue clicking on measurements to remove multiple lines
  • Press Escape when finished to exit the trim mode

  • When you’ve completed your measurements, press the Escape key on your keyboard to return to standard design mode

  • Use the ruler tool early in your design process to verify traffic flow spaces
  • Create temporary measurements to test furniture placement before committing
  • Combine the grid system with the ruler for precise fixture placements
  • Remove unnecessary measurements with the trim function to maintain a clean workspace
  • For recurring measurements (like standard kitchen counter depths), type the exact value rather than dragging for consistency

The ruler tool in Foyr Neo provides interior designers with flexible measurement options that enhance accuracy and efficiency. By mastering this feature, you’ll be able to create designs that not only look impressive but also maintain proper spatial relationships and comply with industry standards.
